Quote 1: "In addition to roads, dams, and schools, it turned out, he spent lots of money on lavish parties, state visits and costly reenactments of famous Haitian battles, mostly to amuse himself and a small circle of like minded friends"
Significance 1: I chose this quote because it really got my attention. It shows how much he really hates his country and how it is ruled. It really shows how badly done they spent there money and how badly done they take care of there people.
Question 1: Why is the book called "Brother I'm Dying" when her uncle is dying?
Quote 2: "It reminded him how important voices were. If you had one, you could use it to reach out to your loved ones, no matter how far away."
Significance 2: I chose this quote because I thought that its kinda sad how he has to find a way to talk to his family without talking. Its also kinda hard for him because his family don't know where he is or haven't herd of him from a while.
Question 2: How other way is he going to be able to communicate with all of his loved ones with no voice, sense his family hasn't herd of him in awhile?

I liked your first quote but i don't see how he hates his own country. If he buys antiques from his country, doesn't that mean he likes it? If he buys things about the history of Haiti then he must find it interesting.
My answer to question one is well, yeah i was wondering that too. Why is she saying her brother is dying if her uncle is the sickly one. Maybe something later on in the book will explain why.
For your second quote i liked because sometimes I feel like I don't have a voice. or when i do no one can hear it.
My answer for question 2 is, i think he is going to send letters because you don't need a voice to send a message in writing.
